| The thrill of Rio de Janeiro is a physical one. Drama is built into the landscape, with Sugarloaf Mountain rearing up behind the Atlantic coastline, and the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer surveying the scene. Right on Copacabana beach, the Copacabana Palace is South America's most famous hotel and has welcomed the rich and famous since 1923. Rooms The Copacabana Palace has 222 rooms and suites, 147 of which in the main building and 75 suites in the Tower Wing Building. All are individually designed with fine period furniture and original works of art. Each of the rooms has view of the sea or of Copacabana Avenue. All suites have spacious and opulent sitting rooms. Classic Floors The accommodation on the 1st and 2nd floors have been designed by Michel Jouanet, who has used the original Copacabana Palace furniture, dating from the early 1920s, when the Guinle family built the Hotel. On these floors, we have Standard Rooms (composed of bedroom and bathroom with city view), Deluxe Ocean View Rooms (composed of bedroom and bathroom, facing the Copacabana beach) and Junior Ocean View Suites and Deluxe Ocean View Suites, both composed of bedroom, bathroom and living room facing the famous Copacabana beach. Superior Floors The rooms and suites located on the 3rd and 4th floors of the Hotel have been recently renovated and redecorated by Michel Jouanet. The furniture that enhances these rooms and suites has been made by special design for the Copacabana Palace. We also find on these floors the following types of rooms: Standard Rooms (composed of bedroom and bathroom with city view), Deluxe Ocean View Rooms (composed of bedroom and bathroom, facing the Copacabana beach) and Junior Ocean View Suites and Deluxe Ocean View Suites, both composed of bedroom, bathroom and living room facing the famous Copacabana beach. Executive Floor On the 5th floor, a range of executive suites offers extra facilities, including an Executive Lounge where refreshments are served upon request. Here the views of the Atlantic and of Rio are simply without parallel. Stretching from the spacious modern rooms to the suites, all beautifully decorated by the late Orient-Express architect, Gerard Gallet. Each has a CD and video player, marble bathrooms and furniture encrusted with Brazilian stones. For guest staying on the Executive Floor, butler service is available, which includes unpacking and repacking of suitcases, daily shoe shine, Concierge services and even early morning tea on request. Express check-ins and personalized checkouts are all part of the service, not to mention the use of the business center cabins, equipped with all the latest computers, scanners, printers, etc. Penthouse Suites Grandiose suites measuring approximately 100 square meters, composed of living room, bedroom, bar, toilet, spacious marble bathroom and veranda facing the wonderful Copacabana beach. Guests will also have butler service 24 hours and a private pool for residents of the floor. Avenue City View Suite – Tower Wing Building Spacious suites measuring approximately 70 square meters located at the Tower Wing Building. They are composed of living room, bedroom, bathroom and veranda facing the city. Pool Suite – Tower Wing Building Recently renovated, the comfortable suites measuring approximately 74 square meters are also located in the Tower Wing Building. All suites were designed by the Orient-Express French decorator, Michel Jouanet and are composed of a comfortable sitting room, with an adjoining veranda overlooking the pool and the Copacabana beach. The beds in the bedroom have specially designed Sealy orthopedic pillow top mattresses and are made up with the exceptionally fine Trussardi bed linen. In addition these poolside suites offer special services on request, such as express check-ins and in suite checkouts. Restaurants The Hotel Cipriani Restaurant, which serves Italian dishes, is one of the most sophisticated in the city and is patronised by the jet set of Rio. The Pergula Restaurant is situated by the pool and offers breakfast, lunch and alfresco dining. The Copacabana Piano Bar is a sophisticated and casual meeting place. Alternatively, you can dine in the comfort and privacy of your own room with 24-hour Room Service. The Copacabana Palace prides itself on its service and our well-trained professional staff are ready to attend to guests' every wish. Drinks and light snacks are served on the Pool Terrace throughout the day. Leisure When it comes to relaxation the possibilities are endless. The Copacabana Palace boasts a magnificent semi-Olympic size swimming pool, which is without doubt the finest in Rio, and its rooftop tennis court is the only one of its kind in Rio. The hotel also has a new Fitness Centre and a Beauty Salon.
